What do you all think??

Im looking for a cheap set-up (subs/amp). Im not a huge audiophile like most of you all are here. But i just want a little bass for my daily driver.

I saw this cheap set-up in crutchfield and was just curious what you all think.

I really dont wanna play it super loud or anything, just want a nice little rumble and at a good price. What do you think? Does it suit my needs?

not bad, if you are just looking for a little extra, but remember even though that only runs 129.00, still have to remember you are going to need a few more things.

power wire
ground wire
speaker wire
rca's
converter (if you dont have a custom headunit)
remote turn on lead
subwoofer box
dynamat(optional)

but good luck

Something you gotta remember is that you get what you pay for.

From what I see coming into my shop, Lightning Audio's entry level stuff is something to stay away from.

Stick with decent brands like Alpine, JL, Kicker, a/d/s, MTX and go to eBay and buy some good used stuff. I see JL W3 subs on there for ~100$, and a decent amp shouldn't be hard to find for cheap. Any of these brands will not only sound eleventy billion times better, but will last a lot longer.

Re: What do you all think??

screw all that...go to walmart and get pioneer. pioneer is pioneer and their 60 dollar 6.5 speakers kick *** when properly crossed. i've had them in my z since i got it and with the sony head unit i can almost make my ears bleed with just the highs. that's off the head unit, they are designed to be efficient with just that power, but if you wanted an amp, get the 35x4 and possibly a sub with about a 200w sub amp. walmart's sony line is also good, as long as you get the ones with the rubber surround. i had those in my old mustang. as long as you keep the bass away from the smaller speakers, any will suffice.

on a second note, one of my friends i used to do stereos with broke several records with some cheap buy one get one's for 40 and a 75w amp. he had 6 subs and 2 amps running with a 1/5 ohm load each, custom built boxes that had removable port holes...it was awesome. he hit a 164.5dB. proper boxes and power is crucial, it doesnt matter how much power the sub can handle or soak up...if the box sucks so will the sound.

Re: What do you all think??

Or yeah, you could go to Walmart and load up on entry level Pioneer and Sony gear.

Not that you'd WANT to run anything like this:
