What is the best amp for speakers?
What is the best amp for speakers?
I am going to be getting 2 amps for my speakers. I will be getting a 4 channel for my front and rear and a 2 channel for my sub. My front and rear speakers are mb quart components (dsd216). I will be using the full component setup in the front and just the woffers in the back. The power rating on them is 50 rms, 120 peak. My sub is an alpine tyre-r- 300 rms, 1000 peak. Just wondering what type of amps I should get? Would like to stick with the same brand for the speakers and the sub. Also what power rating should I be looking for- ?w x 4 and ?w x 2. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Why a 2-channel for the sub? When you bridge the channels together you will have to use a 4 ohm sub. (for most amps) That will give you half the power.... so in your case it would defeat itself. How about a mono amp? (1 channel) What is the voice coil configuration of your Type R? Dual 2 ohm? Dual 4 ohm?
How about the JBL BP600.1 and the P80.4? Unfortunatly that is the most powerful 4-channel amp that JBL makes. It will only give your components 40WRMS @ 4 ohms.
How about a 5 or 6 channel amp to power everything?? Try the Cadence A6 or Z6000.

I have no idea why the A6 is so much there.... must be a typo.

you can get them in a dual 2ohm VC.
get a 2 channel amp and a 2ohm DVC sub and then wire the sub in series (4ohm) and bridge it on the amp.
or get the dual 2 ohm VC and wire them in parallel (1ohm) and wire it to a 1ohm stable monoblock.

Click on products, then subwoofers, then type R.....
And I think he already HAS the Dual 4 ohm Type R. 009, you are going to want to parallel your voice coils. (wire positives together, then wire negatives together) this will give you a 2ohm load. The JBL 600.1 will output full power at 2ohms. Or you could get a 5 or 6-channel amp and power the whole set-up! The 4 lower power channels for you speakers and the higher power channel(s) for the sub.....

I have a 2ohm DVC 10" Type R....so I know they make them, or at least used to.
If he already has a 4ohm DVC, than yeah, he would want to wire the VC's in parallel and wire it to a 2ohm stable monoblock.
I don't know what size you think they don't make in a 2ohm DVC, but here are three of them.....

It's gonna depend on what amp you are running to be able to get the right sub....
- if you are getting a 1ohm stable monoblack: Get the 2ohm DVC Type R and wire the coils in parallel (1ohm).
- if you are getting a 2ohm stable monoblock: Get the 4ohm DVC Type R and wire the coils in parallel (2ohm).
- if you are getting a 2ohm stable 2 channel amp: Get the 2ohm DVC Type R and wire the coils in series (4ohm) and then bridge them to your amp (amp sees 2 ohms).
Go HERE, it will show you how to wire them up the way I described. Just input the number of subs you have and what version of voice coils you have (dual 2ohm or dual 4 ohm).
