volume screwed up

volume screwed up

i have a stock 01 cd player. when i turn up the volume... the sound actually gets quieter as im turning the **** and then gets loud. whats with that?

damn i just bought that one too. the orignal one from my 95 stopped playing cds. i was gonna put the cd part from the new one into the old but they are nothing alike inside even tho the faces are identical.

Yeah, my wife's Formula is doing the same thing. It also just shuts off by itself sometimes . I'd like to replace it with an aftermarket head unit but none of them look right with the Pontiac dash. Any ideas?? I'd also be happy with a properly functioning factory head unit as well.

Also a temporary fix for the volume ****: WD-40. Pull the volume **** off and squirt a little WD around the metal stem. It worked on the wife's car for several weeks....
