Viper 5500 Remote Start

Hey guys. I just got the 5500 remote start for my '02 Yukon and I'm trying to find out if this is supposed to work together with the factory alarm. When the dealer was selling it to me they said it would, but after picking it up from them tonight, it's not arming the factory alarm when I lock the doors with the viper remote. If I lock the doors with the viper remote, followed by locking with the factory remote, then the alarm arms. If I have the alarm armed and then unlock with the viper remote, it disarms the factory alarm. I'm thinking they missed something here and it should we working together with the factory alarm for lock(arm) and unlock(disarm). I'll try to also give them a call tomorrow and see what story they give me.

Thanks,
Tom

if i recall correctly the factory alarm arms and disarms through the lock and unlock; so it shoudl be working correctly. i do not believe there are seperate wires. When you lock your doors with the viper remote, does the security light on the dash light up?

I brought it back and they fixed it. They said the problem was they used the wiring diagram that viper provided and it didn't have the correct wire on one of them. Took them some time to figure out, but they got it and now the security light comes on when i lock it.

Thanks

more than likely they just hooked up the factory disarm originally and only the arm because you brought it back, figuring you would never notice a diff.

Most likely you are correct, they just skipped that part. Another thing now, the ABS light will randomly flash while driving, but it only happens when I remote start it. If I start it with the key, there is no light flashing randomly. Its not very consistent, but is annoying. Could it have something to do with the remote start?
