My Bose system is shot through and through as far as I'm concerned, I have a blown driver's side speaker and the HU no longer plays CD's, so it's definitely time to upgrade. I haven't had any real experience with car audio up until this point so I've been reading up on it and believe I've found a system that should sound pretty good without breaking the bank.

A Pioneer DEH-P3700MP head unit

Two Alpine SPS-170A's for the driver and passenger side doors

An Alpine MRP-F240 4x40w amp (1 to each speaker, 2 to the sub)

And either an Alpine SWR-1021D or a Kicker 0210L5 in a stealth box from subthump.com

Is there anything I'm forgetting such as adapters etc? Any other thoughts, advice, or recomendations for this setup would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch in advance!

 

make sure you know how to bypass the bose amp that's in the car.
if you don't do it right, your deck wont work.

 

That's what RCA pre-outs are for.

And just run new speaker wire and screw the stock puny razor thin garbage. It's easy as hell and works much better.

 

honestly i would reccommend a bigger amp or a seperate sub amp, 100watts rms to a sub isnt much

 

This I will agree with. Both the Type R and L5 are pretty power hungry subs, and neither of them are really that efficient (will take more power to get loud). I would really suggest getting some components up front, and a 2 channel amp for them. Then getting a mono amp that will push at least 400 watts RMS at whatever ohm you need for your sub (dual 4 ohm sub will equal out to be 2 or 8 ohms, and dual 2 ohm sub will be 1 or 4 ohms).
