Tweeter pods

I'd say that's your best bet.
Although if you need to aim them I've also seen a top mount style mounting kit that would allow you to mount them to the outside of the door panel with an angled position.
I was thinking of going the component route, but then discovered the Inifinity 6.5's with the Swivel Tweeter, and well that was a little easier and sounds fine.

Hmmm - I was thinking about putting the tweets where you did - VERY NICE . I do have power locks, but don't mind deleting them since they are never used anyways.
Right now, I'm busy assembling the sub (JL 12W3) box/amp rack together. All the components are sitting in my living room and it's going to be a bit before everything is in. This is gonna be fun .
