i had cut a hole in my door panel, top of the carpeted area on the panel. i have also put them in the triangle piece by fiberglassing them, coaxil mounted them, and put in A pillars facing the windshield.

Thats the thing, I didn't want to have to cut the door panel because when ever I sell the car I might want to take them with me.

put them in the triangle piece. they are cheap to replace. I put mine in the pillar facing the glass. I would get some tape and experiment with what placement sounds best with your particular components. tweeter placement can make or break the imaging.

if you do not want to cut by any means, then buy some that will allow coaxil mounts, some i know for sure that allow it are kicker, alpine, and audiobahn.

just buy some alpine s series speakers. they got the tweeter built in to the speaker, and you can get a pair of em for $60-100 max. (250 watts peak, 50 watts RMS).

The tweeters will sit far enough back with the door closed on the sails that it wont matter. I personally think that the extra height helps sound quality over a door panel mount.

I mounted mine on the bottom of the door trim to get a feel for how they'd sound and promptly got smashed by the door when they let loose.... my next set is going in the defroster vent for the windshield placed to bounce off the windshield to the appropriate position. Nothing to see, and better imaging than the bottom of the door.

Didn't really think about that, but they're so small and have no rubber I don't think it'd really bother them so much.

not good placement on them... if you or your passenger are in the seats.. then it's just gonna hit their knees and not sound that bright.

I had floor mounted Kick Panels in my Berretta, and while not perfect they were a nice compromise between better sound and not cutting up panels. They are expensive to buy or have custom made though.

I would still say you best bet is the sail panel or if your looking to have something custom a fiberglass enclsure in the corner by the A-pillar.

why not get trans am door panels? since they should be similar, but have locations for components. i was thinking of either doing this or building custom kick panels off spare kicks i get from a junk yard.
