Theft lock Question...
Theft lock Question...
Howdy,
I posted my cd/fm/am stock deck tonight for sale and i sold it immediately for the most part. However, i got another message from someone else saying something about theft lock? I know it says theft lock on the deck and everything...but what is it? The guy said it has to be "unlocked" for other people to use it? how's that work? I don't want to get bogus feedback even on here because i didn't know how to make sure it was compatible with other f-bod's
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Re: Theft lock Question...
Theft Lock is a factory security feature for the stock radio. Whenever the 12v connection is broken the HU will lock up when it gets powered up again. Why anyone would want to steal a POS factory HU is a mystery to me. Anyway... it's a numeric code that the owner enters to activate. Try plugging it back into the car's harness and see what the display says. If LOC appears on the display you'll need to unlock it. If it doesn't say LOC you have nothing to worry about. No code has been entered. If it is locked you'll have to take it to a dealership and pay them to do it. I've heard some dealerships charge as much as $75 for this service. This is total BS if true. As long as you can prove that you are the car's owner they should do it for free.
