Technically which speaker would sound better w/my set up....

I'm looking at two different 6 1/2" one is a kenwood kfc-1668s it's a 2-way
sensitivity 92db
RMS 2-35
freq. resp. 35-22k hz

The other is actully a 6 3/4" kenwood kfc-1738c it's a 3 way
sensitivity 92db
RMS 2-40
freq. resp. 30-30k hz

I'll be powering them off the head unit kenwood excelon kdc-x559. Now it's RMS rating is 22 watts, so would it be a better choice to get the 1668s' sense there rms rating is 35. What do you guys think. Thanks

Honestly, you probably won't be able to tell the difference with the power your running to them. If I had to choose, I guess I would choose the 3 way since its a slightly larger speaker.

Personally I would go with different speakers. Speakers aren't Kenwood's strong suit. If I HAD to choose between those 2 models though I would go with the 2-way. 3-ways, IMO, are overkill in a car environment. I don't see the point in running what amounts to 2 tweeters. Whats the point in having 2 high frequency type drivers that could easily be handled by one?

Ok how about these choices

The Alpine sps-1729s
91db
35-25 is the freq. resp. range
2-30 rms

Or

Polk gxr6e
92db
freq. resp. isnt as good thought is 60-21
and the rms 2-50

Also sense i'll be powering them from the head unit would the higher rms matter, also i'm looking to increase my mid-high freqences so would the alpines 35-25k hz be my better choice? Thanks guys.

You're relying entirely WAY TOO MUCH on the numbers. The numbers don't mean a thing if the speakers sound like garbage. Like I've said in the past...if speaker A specs better than speaker B, but speaker B sounds better than speaker A, I'm buying speaker B.

Make a list of all the speakers that will fit in your car and then demo as many of them as you can to make your decision. Speaker selection is entirely too subjective for someone else to make a decision for you.

The Alpines will probably do pretty well, along with the Polks. I'm going with those Polks myself. Running off your HU you're not going to be able to tell much of a difference between the different types of speakers imo. To get the full benefit of the speakers, you'll need an amp for them.

Oh yeah, stick with the GXR6s not the GXR6Es. Unless you want an euro type speaker. Not sure if you knew that or not.
