TA Power lumbar in a camaro

I got some leather TA seats for my camaro.. they are not 6 way power but power lumbar. I dont know where the tubes go and the plug for the seats has 6 pins and my camaro has a plug with two pins. How do I do the conversion? Also the camaro does not have a plug for the passenger seat, so i'd have to wire one over to the pass. seat.. Does anyone know how I can get this to work? Do i need to buy an air compressor of some kind? How do I get it to plug in?

Re: TA Power lumbar in a camaro

The TA seats have two separate connectors: a power connector, that plugs into the drivers seat; and an air tube that connects the two seats together, and runs under the carpet, under the console, and plugs into the bottom of both seats. The air tube is black, and is actually two tubes linked together.

If you are missing the air tube, the power lumbar wont work. Try an autowrecker (thats where I found an air tube for $5) or the dealer (if you want to spend a lot more).

You may find that the power connectors between the factory one from the car, and the factory one from the seat are incompatible, Im not sure.

I had 1995 TA seats in my 1987 IROC, and had them working just like factory.

Re: TA Power lumbar in a camaro

each seat has one connector with two tubes each coming off them. But the two tubes are one connector.

My harness has two tubes with plastic things on each end, but there is no one connector with two tubes...

not usre im making sense, but do i connect the tubes coming off the seat to the harness or do they plug someplace in the seat? I Think i'll just rip em both out and check this weekend but any guidance is appreciate. Thanks

The connectors from the seats should be hanging down, ready to be connected to the tube which runs under the carpet, and connects the two seats together. The reason for the connection is: the drivers seat has the pump to power the system mounted to its underside, while the passenger seat does not, it simply operates off the drivers seat. What I would do is pull both seats, and have them upside down, so you can clearly see the connections. The drivers seat has an electrical connection (which I dont think is causing a problem for you), and a two hose connector, which clips to the hose which runs under the carpet. The other end of that hose connects to the passenger seat. It may be that the seat connector points are missing (unlikely), or just tucked up underneath somewhere (more likely). If you go to the dealer, they can print off a schematic of the entire system, which will show all the parts involved (if for some reason they are missing or broken). Dont give up, this is possible to get working; I had a set of the AQ9 seats (the TA seats with power lumbar) in my IROC, and they worked perfectly.
