System Overhaul

Hey everyone.

I'm thinking of doing an overhaul on my 95' z delco bose cassette system. I've currently got Pioneer Deck, Pioneer 800W amp, and 2 Kenwood 10" subs. Before I start screwing around with the stock system, I'm wondering if this equipment will be compatible with the stock bose speakers, or is it necessary to replace the speakers too? I hear stories and read posts from people saying that the bose system is very particular. Just want to get my facts straight before I do something stupid get poor quality sound or fry my HU or anything else. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: System Overhaul

if you dont have the money for new speakers, you can keep the bose. you just have to bypass the bose crossovers. i'd go with buying new speakers, i've got kicker ones and they are awesome!

Yeah the bose speakers run at different Ohm levels per speaker. You can make the speakers work if you need to. Do you have a budget in mind? Theres a ton of choices. Give me some kind of budget and what kind of music you like to listen to and i can make some suggestions. Just remeber that your current speakers are over 10 years old. The materials alone have changed alot in ten years. Your sub is gonna help alot even with just the stock speakers in. It will be like going from a bad AM station to a good FM. We also have some of the easyest cars to do installs on. Look on the crutchfeld site and see what specials they are running. Its about the time of the year eveyone brings out the new models so that means good sales. I know back when i got my compnets i got buy one get the second half off. So i got 2 sets of great componets for just over 300. I also alwasy tell everyone dont buy anything utill u can acutally listen to what your getting. If you want some more help just give me some basics and i gve ya my 2 cents.

Re: System Overhaul

Rip the whole Bose system out. Sell it. Then start from zero and build yourself a system that fits you well. You will be happier in the end.

Dont Half-A$$ it. Do it right the first time.

Re: System Overhaul

another vote to start from scratch, you'll be much happier with the results by going with a full aftermarket setup. I recently replaced my whole system with a pioneer head unit, infinity ref 6 1/2" componets up front, infinity ref 6 1/2" full range in the rear, 12" rockford sub, and a 4 channel kicker amp for my speakers and a mono amp for my sub. It sounds f***ing awesome!

Re: System Overhaul

I agree with the ripping out of the bose. I replaced my front speakers but still using the amps up there. I'm just going to run all new wire when I get rear speakers and a 4-channel. It'll probably just be better that way.
