system cut out
system cut out
whats up all im new to this section and i got a problem.....
when i got my car it had a simple system in it consisting of an alpine 45 watt x 4 single cd head unit, stock speakers (i think theyre stock) a 600 watt kenwood amp and a single 12" legacy sub. some time after i got my car i just noticed that my sub had stopped working. it wasnt sudden like it cut out it was just one day i noticed it wasn't making bass. I checked the amp fuse, the connections to the sub and the hot wires running into the amp to see if it was getting power into it as well as all the ground wires i could find. all turned up ok. the only things that make sense to me at this point are either the amp isnt working or the sub kicked the can. it doesnt seem to make any sense that this would happen since i never cranked anything anywhere near its limit. the sub handles 1000 watts so the amp shouldnt have been able to blow IT. could the problem be the amp?????could i need to replace the whole thing????? if so y would this happen out of nowhere like this.

I would try hooking up another sub or speaker to it and see if it gets a signal. If it does get a signal, then you sub has probably had it. If it doesn't, then check your RCA's and make sure that they are plugged in properly. If the RCA's are fine, then you want to think about trying another set of RCA's. Also, I'm not sure if the amp is a 2 channel or mono, but if it's a 2 channel, tryin using only one channel. Your amp may have a blown channel. That's all I can think of right now. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
ya id try hooking up another sub.....
try getting new wires to the sub as well maybe their cut somewhere......
maybe thers a problem inside your box a wire came loose or soemthing......

tool needed:
a c battery
a digital multimeter
hook up the speaker wires to the battery just to make sure that it is accepting the current. It will make cracking noises if so then go to the amp
use your mulitmeter and check the connections comming out of the speaker spot to make sure that there is a signal coming out.
