I emailed ED before purchasing my Alpine. I couldn't wait months, and they couldn't give me ANY ETA on when they'd have more stock.

It's nice to know I would have *still* been waiting on the ED.

I'm glad I passed.

Ok,

well, it looks like I'm going to end up doing my own fiberglass boxes for the DS and PS. Now...

Seeing i've been reading some bad service remarks from eD on multiple msg boards, I'm leaning more twords my other 2 ideas. Anyone have experience or recommendations for these 2 subs:

Resonant Engineering XXX
Adire Audio Brahama

I will be using 10" speakers, in small sealed (Fiberglass and MDF) Enclosures. I know these need a lot more support than a typical Subwoofer (The 12" XXX weighs in at almost 60#s.)

I'm leaning twords powering them with a dedicated Hifonics BD1500D for each sub. With the small enclosures I know both will take a TON of power..

Any feedback would be appriciated as to which may or will sound better, or any other suggestions for systems. I'm looking to spend about $1K on the 2 subs, and 2 amps; or equivilent.

i have had the 10, 12 , and 15" Brahma in my car and they all sounded fantastic. I would go with a 12 in a 1 cube box.... or ported in a 2 cube box and get only one.

Do you believe that I could fit a 12" with 1cF into the Spare tire area? that's like 1.25cF enclosure when you add the displacement of the sub into the mix.

And how "loud" and "clean" do you think the single 12" would be in comparison to the 2 10"s?

Nice! Headed toward a quality setup here. I currently own several of Adire's products. I am happy with them all. I don't see you getting two Brahma's and two BD1500's for $1k. And if you plan on running that much power to them, you'd better be sure to build those stealth's like tanks. I suggest a bi-axil such as Kyntex 1708. The front baffle is still planned to be wood correct? Maybe a 3/4" Birch would be a good idea? A single 12" in the passenger side might be a better idea if money is an issue. Output shouldn't suffer too much.

The box is going to be Polyester Resin with the Knytex bi-axial fiberglass cloth/mat. The Baffle will most likely be more than a baffle and be more like an MDF backet for the Brahama Basket to nesle in (Similar to the recommended Subwoofer enclosures from Adire's website). I'm planning on 3/4" MDF to build all of that, and possible double up the front Baffle with 3/4 being the mounting surface, and 1/2 in ontop of that to flush-mount the driver.

If I can get the volume in the PS of 1cF will that single 12" Brahama with a BD1000D or 1500D be equal in loudness and clarity to the 2 10" in .5cF boxes?

I'm thinking they should be close... and from what I've heard will be insane in comparison to the L7s that I've got now.

I'm also thinking if, and it's a big if, I can get the airspace on the PS by comming up the back of the wheel well that I could even possibly do a 1.5cF ported box...

I recommend Hardwood Birch ply. It's just as strong if not stronger then MDF and about half the weight. However, it's a little more expensive. I agree that a single 12" in 1 cuft will have close to the same output as dual 10" in .5 cuft. Porting the single 12" would be great, but I bet you'd have to tune a little higher then you would probably like. Not much room to fit a long a$$ port.....and if you could it'd probably take up so much airspace, you'd be back to square one. Get what I'm saying? But work out the numbers and see what you got. You have two 12" L7's now correct? No way is dual 10"s or the 12" going to have more SPL then two 12" L7's. Much better SQ though.

yea, but the kickers I had actually to me were far from loud. They were in small (1.5cF ea) enclosures, and from everything I'm hearing, they need VOLUME like crazy... I'd think the 12" Brahama should be able to atleast keep up, seeing it's got almost 2x the excursion, not to mention it's famed for being loud in fairly small boxes.

I spoke with them today, and i'll have it in a week. Their customer service has actually been extremely good. They have just had trouble with their suppliers.

No doubt!

I had a 2001 Mercury cougar for a starter car (Blame my pops) but i had 2 Rockford Punch Z's they worked fine if you want a little bump or enough to make your music sound good. JL will give you tons of bass and a good tone. They sacrafice anything for quality. def. the best ive seen.
