sub wiring question

i have 2 ecliplse aluminum dual 4ohm subs right now i have them wired in paralel each going to their own amp bridged i believe this gives the amp a 2ohm mono load....now when i get the amp i want im gonna have both subs on one amp how would i wire it for 2ohm and how would i wire it for 4 ohm...just kind of thinking ahead....id like to leave the inside of the box alone....so give me the best way to do this.

Re: sub wiring question

With two 4ohm DVC subs, you can only obtain a 4ohm or 1ohm total impedence

To get a 4ohm load, wire them together series/parallel.

To get the 1ohm load wiring them parallel/parallel.

For either of those, you'll have to drill a small hole thru the center divider of the box to feed wiring over to the second sub.

The only way to get a 2ohm impedence is to get a 2 channel amp and wire each sub in parallel for each of the amp's channels.

Make sure your new amp is 1 ohm stable!

there we go i got em wired paralel now each bridged to their own amp thats 2ohm right? but if i add 2 subs together bridged on one channel thatll change it to 1 ohm right? so i get a 2 channel amp and put them each on their own channel (stereo) itll be 2ohm stereo right?

You don't bridge subs. You bridge amps. I think that's what's making your posts so confusing.
NOW: You have 2 subs and 2 sub amps? Each subs voice coils wired in parallel to it's own amp? If so, yes, that is 2 ohms.

YOU WANT:...... I have no idea what you are looking to do..... Add 2 more subs for a total of 4?? Then power all 4 with a single 2-channel amp? If so, yes, each channel will have a final load of 1 ohm each. However, most 2-channel amps are only stable to 2 ohms per channel......

I'm sure I have mis-understood you on some parts.....

sorry im confusing i know u bridge amps i just ramble on and make it confusing...no im using cheap kenwood amps right now for each sub what i was asking is when i get my eclipse 2 channel amp how i could wire it for each sub to still be 2 ohms just on 1 amp instead of 2 and i think megabass answered me by saying to put each sub on its own channel instead of briging the amp and putting both on the amp bridged and itll be ohms to each sub i wanna avoid opening the box to change it but not go to 1 ohm

I think you'll be fine as long as you currently have each sub wired in parallel. Do you remember how you wired them? And since you said you were getting a 2 channel, you'll be all set. Just make sure your new amp is 2ohm stable.
