Sub suggestions?

OK, so the idea I had many months back of reusing the Bose sub/amp combo with a new HU and front speakers fell through, because the Bose sounds awful with the new stuff. So, I sucked it up and bought a pair of MTX amps, built an amp rack, and bought the stealth box off subthump.com. My plan was stick an Alpine Type R into it, but I have to buy the sub from Car Toys because I have about $200 in gift cards/store credit there, and all they have in the entire Denver metro area is display models ( = junk). They also told me they wouldn't be getting in shipments of that sub in until mid-February, when the new model comes out.

So, does anyone have any suggestions on a good 10" sub to stick back there? My only requirement is that it be DVC, because I think my sub amp (MTX 421D) won't be powerful enough otherwise. If it helps, I listen to just about everything BUT rap...

Re: Sub suggestions?

it probably would have been better to build your box around your sub. each sub has specific specifications tuning, internal box volume, etc. with that out of the way memphis subs are good, i have one in my truck a 10" in a custom box and its sound quality is amazing and it gets LOUD mine is an M3 series dual 4 ohm voice coil.

I've got a 10" Alpine Type-S with dual 4ohm VC's I need to sell. I upgraded to twin Type-S subs with dual 2ohm VC's. It's in mint condition and priced to sell. PM me if you're interested.

Re: Sub suggestions?

you'll be shopping for a dual 4 ohm voice coil sub to get that final 2 ohm load ur amp needs.

i'd say ur best bet would be to get a type r... its does match up to that amp nicely. I never been to and have no idea what brands car toys carries. do they have online store?

I don't know if they carry this brand or not, but I got a Image Dynamics IDQ 10 that I think sounds really good. It's a DVC sub and handles 250w RMS.

Yea, they have an online store at www.cartoys.com. I may wind up waiting for them to get in a new shipment of Alpine Type Rs, but I had also thought about either a JL Audio 10w3v2, or an MTX Thunder. Anyone have experience with any of those? Or any of the other brands they carry there?

Thanks for the help so far!

EDIT: Here are all of the sub manufacturers they have listed on their website, just so everyone doesn't have to look for themselves: Dual, JBL, Kenwood, MTX, Pioneer, Alpine, Eclipse, and JL Audio.
