Stuffing behind speakers?

What are your opinions on stuffing speaker compartments with fill? I've never heard a definite answer for or against it. Thanks.

I dont know much about that cotton fill crap, but my Visonik 'sub' sounded great without it and i know alot of good installers who stay away from it.

Poly-fill stuffing's effectiveness will always cause a big debate....just like how people debate about accoustic coupling....just like how people debate about needing capacitors. IMO, Poly-fill (or any other knock-off) is a waste of money. It's a sorry excuse to try to patch-up a problem, when the real solution should be to build a bigger enclosure.

polyfill

i used it in the rear panels of my 94z and it made the speakers sound alot better. I put dynamat extreme on the surface where the speaker was to be mounted to then stuffed the wall around the speaker. It gave the speaker more bass and less distortion. I listened to one side before I did the other and could hear a definite improvement. Well worth the $10 for dynamat and a coupel of bucks at Walmart for polyfill.
