Stock CD Changer question

Hey guys,
I was thinking about purchasing a ALPINE CDA-9851 head unit. I chose this one because it supposedly works with the steering wheel controls. I wanted to ask someone here if the buttons work the same (where Seek switches between presets, AM/FM / Play switch the source) things like that. Also, does the stock 12 disk changer work with this head unit? If not, is there a head unit that will work w/ the steering controls, and the cd changer? It doesnt have to be a specific brand or anything.

Thanks a lot
Scott

Re: Stock CD Changer question

There is no industry standard for CD changer digital protocol so you cannot mix and match HU's and CD changers. There are adapters that can be used that allow you to use an after-market changer with the factory HU but thats about it. With your Alpine HU you're stuck with using an Alpine changer.
