Steering Wheel Controls
PAC or PAX or something, (I think its PAC?) makes an adaptor to use factory steering wheel controls with an aftermarket HU.
Has anyone transplanted a newer wheel with the controls in it to an earlier model 4th gen?

AFAIK any and all steering wheel control equipped cars can use the adaptor. I recall the adaptor using the infrared or same signal the stereo's remote uses to control your aftermarket radio. I may be wrong as I've only run into one of these devices once at work about a year ago. It was installed in a brand new (at the time) Ford Freestyle. I didnt get to see how it was hooked up as I was just installing a sub with a built in amp.
his car doesn't have the steering wheel controls, thats what he is asking, if he can add the steering wheel with the controls, and then get the adaptor and make it work with his HU. I would imagine you would need the entire column off of a car with the controls, because the wires run through the column and out the bottom, but everything should hook up as if factory, then again I have never donethis. Good luck
