steering wheel control bugs
ok when i got my car with the stock system no lights no working on the radio controls....i saw a guide to change the bulb i did it in 1 of the controls still no light so i took the under dash apart and the airbag out to see if a wire was cut i found an undone harness that i believe was the radio controls hooked it back in still no lights in them but i have an aftermarket stereo now is it possible that just the lights shorted and the controls work? cause i dont wanna buy the PAC if they still arent going to work.

I was having problems with the lights in my steering wheel radio controls as well. If your controls are the little tear drop shaped ones that slide in and out of the wheel, then this may help you..
I posted in the LT1 Tech section a while back, and shoebox was gracious enough to post some scans with troubleshooting info. Included was wiring diagrams for the column... You might try checking these diagrams...

Also, on one of the wires, then the dimmer is all the way up, and the lights are on, there was 12v on it. So find that 12v run at the main connector in the steering wheel, then trace it to each end of the plug for the controls. If you have 12v at one end and not the other, you know you have a pinched wire.
My problem ended up being the bulbs. I replaced them and now I am fine... Best of luck!
