HELP!!! With speakers!

I am looking at upgrading my stock stereo. I have a JvC deck but need new speakers and an amp. Can anyone tell me the difference between component speakers and say 2 way speakers. Also any suggestions on what would make my system sound best. Thanks

Component speakers have 3 seperate pieces, a mid driver, a tweeter, and a crossover. you generally put the tweeter somewhere other than where your mid goes... as for 2 way speakers, they are also called coaxial, the tweeter is actually mounted in the center of the woofer, providing 2 speakers.. the imaging isnt nearly as good on coaxials, but they are cheaper, generally...
as for what speakers to use, what are they going into, and what do you want to acomplish?

Do seperates in the front and 2-ways in the rear. Components/seperates are a speaker system and can be two speakers as well as three or more, that are not mouted together and come with a seperate crossover box. You can mount the tweeter and the mid together or appart depending on what you think sounds the best. In my application I mounted the mid in sealed enclosures in the door and put the tweeter facing away from me on the pillars. Then I run two-ways in the rear cut way down.
