speaker rattles
speaker rattles
by front door speakers rattle. its not due to bad speakers, the door skin 'buzzes' over the speaker under low frequency (bass). anyone know where i can get some material to put between the speaker and the door skin?

or some local dealers....
that is material to go behind the speaker, i already have that. i am talking about between the speaker and door skin. when the bass hits, the door skin rattles over the speaker. i am pretty much looking for an accoustically transparent foam. same as a wind screen on a microphone.
oh....sorry your post was unclear to me.
not sure you're going to find something that will be that effective.... still kinda confused WHERE exactly this is going........
I'm guessing you want something directly in FRONT of the speaker ON the door...... not sure how something like a microphone wind screen concept would help...... also, isn't the grille in front of the speaker? I don't think the material you need has to be able to allow pressure waves to pass since I'm guessing you are NOT covering the speaker grill, but the door instead (plus if it's acoustically transparent....you might have the same problem).......which isn't allowing pressure waves through anyway.....

yes, this is going directly in front of the speaker. the purpos for that is the door grill sits directly on the speaker, so when the bass hits, the door rattles on the speaker. i just want a buffer between.
Ok...i didn't realize you want something on the grille itself... Maybe try putting some dampening material on the area inside on the door itself, except for the grille... I don't think anything can effectively go on the grille and still allow sound......
well, for a test, i took a large microphone wind screen (the foam on a microphone) cut it open to lay flat and put it there. that worked for a bit, but because it was too small, i couldnt fasten it to anything effectivly, so it fell out of place. i am just looking for something like that in 8" x 8" sheets so i can attach it to the door.

I contacted someone I know in the recording industry, and they mentioned Trew audio and said others as well as places to try that should carry it. I searched "Trew audio windscreen square foot" and saw an writeup where someone mentioned buying windscreen there at price per foot, so after thse two things it seemed likely.
