A yes i have a 96 camaro and its got a factory monsoon system and a factory cd head unit delco one!! and i want to buy 2 12 inch subs and a 1400 watt amp and i dont have the money to buy a new head unit and aftermarket speakers yet so i was wondering if i could still use the monsoon head unit and speakers with the subs and a new amp, i mean will it have a good sound quality with another amp and subs or will it be distored or what? I just want my speakers to push the highs and mids from the head unit only and i only want the subs pushing the lows from a external amp!! Will i have to take out the monsoon amp to put a sub amp in or can i use both of them? one for the subs only and the monsoon one for the factory speakers? or I was also wondering if i could just use the stock cd head unit to push the speakers with no amp to it and still be able to use the 1400 watt sub amp for the subs? so i wouldnt have to buy a seperate amp for the speakers? Well i would love some response to this because it would be helpful!! thanks!!

 

Why are you set on a 1400w amp? Do you know exactly what subs you're getting? RMS of the subs? If I were you, I would pull the monsoon system completely. Run an aftermarket headunit, with RCA preouts to a front component amplifier and speaker set, with subwoofer preouts running to a supwoofer amplifier. Get all that?

If you're not looking to spend a lot of money, and wanting to keep the monsoon in there, then easy. Tap your rear speakers and run to a crossover, so you can use the signal to your subwoofer amp. leaving the front speakers alone and wired directly to the headunit.
