Simple question for amp bridging/parallel wiring gurus

My amp (HiFonics Boltar VIII) is currently wired in stereo for 200 X 2 @ 4 Ohms into my 2 subs (JL Audio 12 W4's). The subs are about 4 inches apart - this is a waste, given that stereo separation is impossible to differentiate audibly and my amp is stable down to 1 Ohm...

The wiring diagrams on JL Audios site are for one channel amps. From what I gather from other sites, I bridge my amp (+ from one channel, - from the other) and get 400 watts per channel @ 2 ohms, then wire my subs in parallel and get a 1 Ohm load across my two SVC subs.

Somebody tell me what I'm looking at - I'm obviously confused.

I simply want to go from 200 X 2 stereo @ 4 Ohms to a mono load on a very capable amp into my two subs. TIA.

With the subs you have you can wire all the coils parallel and achieve 1 ohm. However the amp being 1 ohm stable means 1ohm stereo not mono. A 1ohm mono load is the same as a 1/2 ohm stereo load which will most likely clip the amp. You need two dual 2ohm woofers to put the amp at 2ohm mono or 1ohm stereo.

Incorrect. He said he has the SVC version. They only came out with single 4 ohm and dual 4 ohm versions. He should wire the the subs together in parallel for a final impedence of 2 ohm. Then bridge the amp just as he described.

Yep - SVC, my quest would be simpler if they were DVC models... So if I wire the subs in parallel for a 2 Ohm load, then bridge the amp - won't I ultimately have a 1 Ohm load pushing some crazy number like 800 watts@1Ohm mono?
