Post Simple question

What is the best aftermarket CD reciever brand? Is it eclipse? Could someone give me some links to places online that sell Eclipse or whatever brand you think is the best? Thanks

I like Alpine and Kenwood for their reliability. Both have excellent track records with me in my 26 years of installing.

On the other hand I wouldn't own Pioneer if you gave it to me.

I am a big Kenwood fan, but i have seen some really nice Alpines and Clarions... i agree that i wouldn't own a Pioneer... seen too many people get screwed when they needed warranty work done.... one would be too many, but i have seen two.... the Bastards.

I recommend Eclipse. Of course that's the brand we sell at the store I work at. They have a 3 year warranty and a one year thief garantee if dealer installed. It's a very reliable brand. You find them just anywhere so that means that It's not mass marketed like alot of other companies that is more worried about quanity not quality. There's no where on the internet that you can buy Eclipse cause they restrict all on-line sales. Be careful at alot of those places on here that sales stuff like that. Cause alot of them are not authorized dealers so you won't get the full warranty. Just something to think about.

Alpine... Well it also depends how much you are willing to spend but I would probably still go with Alpine.

Eclipse all around good, yet i think ugly, alpine, can be cheap yet the expensive ones are excellent units. Usualy the cheaper ones are made for circuit city and so on. I have a panasonic dfx99, was made in 99, first with the siler to blue face, paid 500 for it, but the next year the 200 dollar one looks almost identical. I have always niticed the best units don't come with internal amplifiers as my dfx99.

Alpine is a good brand for mid to high end decks, but their low end receivers have issues. Someone above said they wouldn't own pioneer. I agree with that and Pioneer is not a good brand IMHO. I really like Eclipse, they're good through out their whole line, but they also run a little bit higher for price and if you're not running an amplifier, I've heard a few instances of the deck overheating. (mine being one of them). As long as you're using a normal Ohm that shouldn't be a problem (I was running at 2ohm).

i.e. my votes go for Eclipse and Alpine

well not to be a **** , but i did say high end, and neither of you qualify. I still stand by my statement, Sony makes great high end HU's, You might want to look into why so many competitors used the C90 and 910, the new crop of Sony super HU's look good too, but they are so new i doubt that they are really used in competition yet, but they look very good.
