Setup

I am no longer into BOOM BOOM car audio. I am looking for a CD player to replace my tape deck and 4 new speakers for the stock locations.

At times I do like it loud, but overall I am just looking to play some CD's with some noise and listen to howard in the mornings. Knowing I will never add a sub or AMP to this setup what do you recommend.

I am looking to buy from best buy or circuit city only.

Was thinking kenwood cd player 149.99 on sale at best buy and kenwood 6 1/2's for 69.99 a pair, two way... All this is on sale...

Input???

Dude, really, forget Best Buy and Circuit City. Buy from www.ikesound.com They don't rip you off, they're probably the biggest car audio seller on eBay, and their stuff is genuine.

I would get at least a Pioneer deck over Kenwood, or an Alpine if you see one you like. Then I would get whichever pair of 2 way coaxs you like, and only a set of woofer's for the back. That woofer back there will give you a little extra kick. I think Kicker makes some dedicated 6.5 woofer's still. You can run that off the deck, and probably still get good sound. As far as the coaxs, I had some RF ones that I bought back in 98 or so. I used them, my friend used them, he still uses them, and they've even been a little abused. So you might look into some RF or even Kicker coax's. When you buy online, you can get better things for the same price as cheap crap in store, which is what you should do.

Even if you are dead set on those specific items, you'll probably still save some cash getting them online.

I would also recommend that buy a good set of front components (depending on how much money you would like to spend and what sounds good to you). You won't miss your front speakers and you'll save weight also (for those 1/4 mile blasts ). As for the HU, just find one that appeals to you the most and have all the features that you need.

personally, i think that getting a cd player that playes MP3's is getting the best bang out of your buck...because if you make ur own cd's, you can have ALLLLLL your favorite songs in one cd (about 150 songs). the most reasonable priced cd/mp3 player is made by kenwood...if ur interested, let me know, i'll give you the model number. I bought it when it first came out (2 yrs ago), so the price has gone down A LOT.
as far as the speakers: when not using amps, it's best to find the most efficient speakers with ur deck, so i recommend buying a pair of infiniti kappa speakers all around. They're well priced, and they sound very crisp.

hope that helped

if you are a total lazy ***, u can get a 10-disc MP3 changer for $200...also plays regular cds...and also, u can just hook it up to ur stock radio.
