setting up computer+touchscreen
setting up computer+touchscreen
im sure there is people on here that have done this. The current stereo/sound system is custom and none of the original speakers are there. I want to fully remove the head unit and put a plastic plate there maybe some guages and i want to put the touch screen where that cubby hole is under the climate controls. Im thinking the computer would be back where the spare tire is. what size of touch screen would fit where the cubby hole is? and how much of a wiring nightmare would this be if i hooked the speakers and amp/subs into the computer? any tips or tricks?
Re: setting up computer+touchscreen
i wouldnt suggest a screen that small, thats what only 3". kinda pointless eh? just get a HU that has a screen on it, Kenwood is making some HU that have decen sized screens that still fit in stock application
and wiring, who knows, depends what you have. If you have remote on the wheel. how many amps you have. but all in all iv found there fairly easy to hid the wires in and clean up. I had 4x 12's, 2 amps, kenwood HU, and all infinity speakers in my last Maro.

I dont think it would be a wiring nightmare, you could add length to an adapter harness to make it easily reach the lower cubie. The hardest part is to custom make a mounting system for the cubie for the HU.

I'm working on putting in a carputer. I should be done in another week or so. I took out the factory radio, cut up the the mouting a bit and am putting a 7" lilliput 629gl. I would highly suggest looking at mp3car.com You're biggest issue is going to be getting reliable (key word reliable) power to the computer. They sell powersupplies specifically for carputers. Many of them include an amp remote as well as battery monitoring. PM if you want pics or my build list.
