securing sub box and ground wire Q
securing sub box and ground wire Q
hey guys,
picked up a green 94 Z28 about a month ago, this weekend I got around to taking the sub and amp out of my cavalier and putting it into the Z and now I have a couple of questions.
1. Where is the best place to get the ground from? I prefer not to drill any holes, the only spot I n oticed was where the seat belt fastens to b ut the bolt is huge and my 8 gauge would definatly not fit around that. Any stock places I can put it to or do I need to get out the drill. On my buddies 97 TA he has a spot on the passenger side where his factory amp went to, but I dont have a hole there.
2. Any ideas on securing the subbox? I have a small box with a 10" sub in it and it would fly around or tip over on sharp turns. I am concerned about damaging it. Any pics of how you did this would be good, i'd like to get the stealth box eventually but I just bought the car so I will need to wait a bit before I get it.

Don't know about your box situation...
But I've got all my equipment grounded to a stud that I mounted on the seatbelt bracket. Drilled a nice hole, ground down the paint, and put a SS bolt through it. Then re-painted the entire thing (Minus the threaded part where the loop mounts).

a nice place to ground it is on the bracket the hatch motor is mounted on. pull back the carpet and you'll see it, there is already a bolt there. this pic is from constrictors site.
