?'s about subs and amp

I am finally replacing my old setup, and now that I am looking at the new stuff I realized I have no idea what i am doing. I am looking at the Alpine SWS-1041 subs, but what is the different in the dual voice coil versus the single? Which one is better? As far the amp I was looking into the Alpine MRV-T320, or maybe the T420, but I have no idea. I don't want something that is to load just a nice bass from the back. I am replacing two 10" RF Punch subs with a Kicker amp, not sure of the model number, but it was rated for 200W's bridged I believe....

Any help is appereciated.
Thanks guys.

Joe

First off are you using an old enclosure? If so you might want to chose a sub that works well in it. It you've already considered this then read on. If not, figure out how much volume you have total for the two drivers, then we'll go from there.

The Alpine Subs are a good deal for the money. The come in 4ohm and 4+4ohm(or dual voice coil) which is basically just different ohm configurations in order to match the amp you are gonna be running. I wouldn't suggest an Alpine amp unless you are dead set on it. They are pretty pricey and you can get more watts per dollar else where.

Are you gonna be running two subs? If so you can use two SVC(single voice coils) wired in parallel to achieve a 2ohm load to match alot of 2ohm Class D sub amps. Or you can run two DVC (dual " ") in a series/parallel configuration to achieve 4ohms and use a regular 2 ch amp bridged.

I'd probably go for a US Acoustics USX2150 and the two DVC's. It's a 450W RMS amp and will definately serve a little justice. Check out www.thezeb.com for the US Acoustics amp. www.ikesound.com has some good deals on Alpine Subs.

Post up if you need any more help.
