remote starter and stock stereo

Hello,

I have an 02 z28, and I just got a remote starter. My question is if I remote start the car, but then decide to turn it off with the remote again, the radio stays on, usually the radio will turn off as soon as a door is open; I have the stock Monsoon.

I think I remember something about the radio turning off after a certain amount of time with the car off, but I am not sure.

Can someone give me some info, as I don't want to accidenlty kill my battery.

RAP (Retained Accessory Power) keeps the radio going for 10 minutes or until a door is opened.

So you can either trick the BCM (Body Control Module???) into thinking that a door opens when you use the remote to turn the car off, OR turn the head unit off each time you kill the motor in case you start it with the remote.

Of course, I guess you can also try to completely disable the RAP stuff.

You could always just run a new switched wire from the ignition harness to the radio.

thanks for the reply, I think if I had turn it off 1 minutes isn't going to kill the battery.

I wouldn't worry about it. Like you said 10 min. isn't going to kill the battery. You should be turning off your stereo before you turn the car off anyway to protect the equipment from battery surges.
