Question remote mounting headunit

can I extend the factory wiring harness of the stock head unit? I am building a box to replace the back seats that's going to hold the nitrous bottle and I am planning on tossing the head unit into it because I have a digital window switch and nitrous switches in place of the head unit. I have the steering wheel controls so I figure ill still be able to shuffle songs and adjust volume so is there any reason why I cant cut the harness before the connector, solder in a few feet of wire and run it that way?

Nope, I've done things like that before and they typically work fine. Just be sure to solder and heat-shrink all the wires properly, and mount the HU securely and you should be good to go.

Make sure you don't mount the HU at too much of an angle. CD player could not play right. Pics when done!!!
