rear speakers problem

Hello all. My speakers have been stock. Of the six speakers (3 sets), the front pair works perfect, the rear 2 sets (rear four speakers) just give out a faint low pitched humm. They seem to be in perfect condition. After 10 years of use will replacing them help?

The system is "stock" except the headunit is a basic pioneer cd player/am/fm tuner. Thanx.

Yes it will help to replace them most likely the speakers are shot I'm assuming you don't have the Monsoon system in your car? just the regular delco speakers if so you can just go to best buy or wherever and change out those speakers. I'm not sure exactly what the sizes are I'll have to check.

the fronts are 6 1/2in. the middles are anywhere from 5 1/4in, to 6 1/2in. the backs should be the same. anyone at best buy, circuit city, or audio store can double check the backs for you.

Hi, thanks for the reply. The back speakers have a slot for two but GM has only attached one speaker to them. It is an oval size opening. Do you think that buying a larger oval size pair for the back two would help?

Also how is it that the front pair is working perfect and the rear ones have got bad all four at the same time? They were installed by GM all at the same time.
