Question: How do you think this setup will sound? (Diagram)
Question: How do you think this setup will sound? (Diagram)
Here's a diagram of what I plan to do w/ my 01 Z28. Everything is stock monsoon right now, complete with a blown driverside door sub.

Looking for opinions on how this will work out. Is there anything being overlooked, or that will suck when I'm done?
Also, I don't know if I'll have to modify the harness to wire the tweeters. I guess I'll figure it out when I get all the pieces.
Background stuff:
Sub will be in a driver's side Subthump box.
Amp will be on a Subthump rack.
Alpine HU: 60W MAX x 4 V-Drive Power Amplifier
PUNCH 40i Power Amplifier Specifications:
Dynamic Power Rating -Measured @ 14.4 Volts
Mono into a 4 Ohm Load 160 Watts
Per channel into a 2 Ohm Load 75 Watts
Per channel into a 4 Ohm Load 40 Watts
Dynamic Power Rating -Measured @ 11.6 Volts
Elemental Designs 10" Sub - 11Kv.2 Dual 4
300WRms. - 0.4/0.6cF Sealed - 0.8/1.0cF Vented -

Re: Question: How do you think this setup will sound? (Diagram)
Don't recommend running stock 6.5" subs off of the monsoon amp and a 10" sub on an external amp. The 10" sub on the external amp will cancel out the 6.5" monsoon subs. When the 6.5" subs start to distort the 10" will not be. Also put a capacitor between the sub amp and the battery with the 130amp fuse within 18"'s of the battery.

Re: Question: How do you think this setup will sound? (Diagram)
That amp will not power that sub very effectively either; there's only one way to wire the sub and not fry the amp; 4 ohm stereo, thus only feeding each VC 40W rms; when they can handle 150Wrms. If you wire it for 2 ohm mono, you'll cook the amp, most 2ch amps are not rated for under 4 ohms of impedence mono.
Re: Question: How do you think this setup will sound? (Diagram)
AFAIK NO RF amps are rated for lower than 4 ohm mono operation other than their Mono amps.
The only way a 2 ch amp will run a 2 ohm mono load is if each channel of the 2ch is 1 ohm stable; this is NOT the common.

I don't use RF crap anyway.
"AFAIK" what the hell is this anyway?
Re: Question: How do you think this setup will sound? (Diagram)
AFAIK - As Far As I Know
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/liter...amplifiers.pdf
The Punch, and RF series are only stable to 2 ohms (in stereo operation); thus only stable to 4 ohm Mono
The Power Series is stable to 1 ohm (stereo operation); thus 2 ohm stable in Mono.
Therefore in his setup, his amp is NOT stable to 2 ohm mono...
And I haven't used RF equipment since the 90's... except for installing other peoples equipment.

Me to, thats when they went to crap.

Ah, but that amp was bought in 1995, i.e. the 90's. It's nearly 10 years old, no big deal if I kill it.
Follow up: if that amp's no good, both due to the difference in monsoon power going to the 6.5's and the power going to the 10", what other options should I consider assuming the rest of the components are the same?

My speakers, head unit, sub boxes will cost less then that combined.
