Question about speaker placment??

I'm replacing my 6.5's and was wondering how to determine what to put where. How do you use 2 way and 3 way speaker placement? I have new 3 ways in the back and am getting new ones for the front. Should the front be 2 ways or 3. I was also, looking at the pioneer 1680R 4 ways, where would be the best place for that? Thanks for any help.

IMO, 2-ways are all that is needed. 3 and 4 ways are way too harsh sounding. Personally I see no point in 3 and 4 way speakers. What you get is essentially a woofer with 2 or 3 tweeters to go with it. There is no need to spread the mids across 2 or 3 extra drivers when a single mid-woofer and tweet can cover it all.

As for the rear....get rid of them. Rear speakers aren't needed in a well set up stereo system that uses 2 main speakers and a sub or two.
