I don't have the time to write out an explanation of how to set an amp's gain. However there is plenty of info on the net.

And here is one rule as well after watching that, say you have a 4 channel amp, 4x100 at 4 ohms. To figure out its optimal voltage, you do the watts times the ohms (100x4) and find the SquareRoot of that (20). So you would set your input voltage to 20.
