Proximity keyfob thingies

I hear the new Corvettes have those new proximity keyfob systems...you know, the ones that unlock your doors when you get close. Does anyone know where I can pick up one of the systems for my bird?? I tried loking but couldn't come up with anything. Thanks.

Dude even if they do make an aftermarket system, it is a pain in the ***. The c6's are always in the shop where i worked with issues with that system.

i highly doubt you saw alot of c6's in a shop, seeing as they are brand new, and of course the owners would take them to the dealer because they would still have the factory warranty, and im sure that covers, a lock

and if you are being serious why the hell do they have so many probs

probably some radical battery draining of the fob. the keyfob would have to transmit a signal at certian intervals and at a certain power level (you don't want it parked outside and to suddenly unlock while your in the house.

A friend's '96 vette had this feature. I don't think this is very new at all then...

It would be extremely interesting to know the operation of this since it works without draining the car battery or the fob battery...

one battery will get drained eventually perhapse both. however to drain the car battery with just the proximity system would take a year i would bet. the cars own systems will kill it off faster.

These have been around a while. I remember when I was stationed in VA, a buddies dad had it on his vette. Don't know what year the car was but I was discharged in '97. Was probably a '96 or earlier.

Sorry i forgot to specify but i work at a chevrolet dealership. And i think the bugs are starting to be worked out but they system still isn't the best. They were telling use that if they car sat and wasen't started for a few days it would die, and it did. And we also had problems where if something like a tire pressure sensor went out or something other little sensor started going crazy, it would kill the entire car. Could't use the fob entery system, couldn't start it, nothing was working.
