Power and Ground?

I have a 96 with the Bose. I am hooking up a Pioneer head unit with seperate HD that hooks up to the Pioneer head unit. I hooked up the power and ground from the head unit and seperate HD unit to the wiring harness that hookes up to the factory wiring harness. Is this OK or should I connect the power and ground from head unit and HD unit to its own power source and the grounds to metal of the car. I don't want a fire.

As long as you connected everything with Butt connectors or Solder/Heatshrink you should be good.

The fuses prevent you from "having a fire" because they prevent too much current from going into the wire.

Ok, thanks. I did solder every wire and protected them. The external HD box does have a fuse inline. And the head unit does have a fuse in the back of the radio. So, no seperate grounds or power leads from these two units. Good, now I don't have to pull everything back out. Thanks again. Any other comments on this subject or pictures of how anyone else did this would be great also.
