Hi,
I had taken out my stock radio (tape player) out of my 97 camaro. I just recently installed it back in. Is there a way to reset it so it will work. I'm hearing since it's the theft lock model you have to reset it.
Thanks,
Mike G

Theftloc Bypass
1. Press and hold presets 2 & 3 for about 10 seconds until the first 3 digits of the display code are displayed
2. Write the numbers down.
3. Press the AM FM button, write down the next 3 numbers
4. Call 1-800-537-5140, when asked, enter 202107, press the “button” and enter the 6 digit code from the radio, you will get an unlock code, write it down.
5. Go back to the car, press the HR button and set the first 2 numbers, then press minute button and set the next two last numbers, press AM FM button, SEC should be displayed, turn on radio
To remove customers code, repeat step 5. you should see --- on radio face, the code is now out of the radio.
Update....
Try this. I found it on another forum.
The dealer quote listed on the thread does not work, but i was able to find one on the internet. The 5-digit code which did it for me was 06010. Before this a 2 must be entered for Pontiac, and an asterisk after, so when prompted after calling 1-800-537-5140, pontiac guys enter:
206010. The website where i got the dealer code is here:
http://www.google.ca/search?q=cache...en&ie=UTF-8
The site has been taken down, this is a cached version on google's server. I have saved a copy of it on my harddrive incase it ever disappears. I will post this same message on the other thread too.
maybe they change codes every now and then.

And another thing I just remembered about Theftlock. If you enter the incorrect code in too many times, it will totally lock you out. I think you have to disconnect the battery and wait like an hour before you can try again....
why stock stereos have theft protection is beyond me im sure any theif isnt going to look in the car and go HOLY CRAP A STOCK RADIO!!!! and break the window lol not like they can put the crap in any car.
LOL.......very true, but i think the automakers add that feature because the general public doesnt go out and buy fancy aftermarket head units, and you know those people who would rather have a brand new escort rather than a used jag because its NEW...just like radios..they want to feel secure about their stuff....Idioots....no offense to anyone like this, just my opinion.
