You can get it to work with a p-bus or xm ready deck, but youll need a p-bus cable. I believe theyre $30-40 from Pioneer. I beleive even www.thezeb.com has them...

Yes, the p-bus cable will eliminate the controller and the fm mod...

How do you like the XM radio, if you have gotten it installed and working yet?

At the XM site, you can hear clips from the various stations. Experiment with the stations and see if it seems worthwhile.

Any Pioneer head unit made in the last few years should control the XM module. I've been thinking about this, and thinking about putting the control module in the spare tire area, or mounting it beside the cd changer.

Any one with a 'p bus' connection. Those that arent XM ready, that do have the connection wont display all the good info an XM ready unit would.

so far the XM is just ok. i like the music and all but i only listen to 2 stations. it doesnt pick up well in certain areas. as far as antenna, it WOULD NOT work very well not mounted on the outside. ill get pix of my antenna. it is the smallest one out yet and i put it on the back glass instead of roof.

well here are my thoughts about xm radio.....

i like it but id rather have a one time fee even though you can pay up to 3 years in advance.
very easy to install.
the antenna looks kinda ugly even though i have the smallest one out, i put it on the glass because it is magnetic and the roof is plastic.
i had a hard time finding the right spot for the controller but i got it in a good spot now.
reception sucks in certain areas...sometimes when skyscrappers are all around and under anything metal like bridges.
clarity could be better but anything thats fm modulated sucks, i cannot pick up any bass whatsoever.
good music, could have more 'new hip hop' stations...theres only 2.

worth the money??? you decide.
i like it but would probably have a better expirence with it non-fm modulated.

You can do annual payment - I only pay $119/year
Definatly get the ip-bus connection / xm receiver, you'll be a lot happier.
As for the antenna location, It must be your area, because here's mine, and I have no drops at all unless going under a bridge, but driving in the city, no loss, and driving all the way to tennesse and back (speedautomotive rawks) I didnt have any loss. On the way back we had to put the antenna under my passanger side hatch panel, still no loss lol -- and this is under 20% tint

Also I have the receiver under my sub box - no biggie there.
