Re: pioneer avic-n2?

I have the AVIC-N1 and the place that installed it said that it had to be in park to view movies, but they knew 'of ways' to bypass that. Sorry I cant be any more specific, but I can watch movies going down the road w/the avic-n1.

Re: pioneer avic-n2?

everything I've read says to not bother with the N2 and stick with the N1, the N2's a royal PITA to use, and nobody has come up with an easy way to watch DVDs while driving

Re: pioneer avic-n2?

Avoid the N2 at all costs... the only significant difference between the models is the method of DVD lock out while driving, the N1 still uses the e-brake ground out, which wired straight to a chassis ground is easily bypassed, the N2, does not use this, it uses the compass built into the GPS system, (I beleive it has a gyro in it too?) as soon as your vehicle moves, it stops displaying all video... not just DVD, but GPS and all...

If you are dead set on it, be prepared for the problem, and if you already have the N1, the firmware is upgradeable to make it an N2... but thats your choice...

Make sure they arent dissabling the gyro or the GPS... but if they can get around it thats awesome, hit me up with that info whenever you get it, I know a couple of people I've installed that unit into their vehicle who would love to get that done to their units

Re: pioneer avic-n2?

if it works like your expecting, how many friends do you know that needs it done? he said you just also make it based on the way you tricked the avic-n1, by grounding(i think) the ebrake wire instead of connecting it

The n2 doesn't stop displaying GPS while driving, obviously... it only prevents DVD-playback... seeing how you only use GPS while driving...

still, a major pain in the ***... just get the earlier versions, or go with a separate unit... like a kenwood screen with external navigation source, (still works with touchscreen.)

yeah too bad this doesn't work..

it actually gets the movement data via the GPS... so you would literally, as already mentioned, have to disable the GPS... maybe by removing the antenna...

Re: pioneer avic-n2?

so is it better to just get an avic-n1 instead of avic-n2? and only the n2 works with an ipod connection, what can you do to hook up the ipod to your n1?
