Overheating amp
Overheating amp
I have a 96Z Ragtop with the amp in the trunk. Once the Roof goes down the amp cuts out after... 20-30 mins. I suspect it's because it's overheating? Any suggestions as how to cool the poor guy down? One thought was building a small box for it, with computer fans to keep air circulating. This I think was a crazy idea that I had as I am not very technically inclined. So any "simple" tricks that anyone might have would be appreciated? If not I guess I can put it on the floor of one of the back seats, and hope that no one crushes it! Whatever you guys recommend is probably going to be done by some kid at a car stereo store.
Thanks in advance for your ideas!
And... Greetings again to everyone, as I haven't been on this BB in... 3+? years! Woah!

Need some more info; most amps run just fine with limited circulation as long as they're installed and wired properly and not being pushed to their limits.
What amp do you have? What is it driving? How's it wired? Is it bridged? if so, to what load? what's the amp rated for?
Just out on a limb here; but it's probably a 2ch bridged to mono to a low (2 or 1 ohm) load with the gain set fairly high; lower the gains, re-wire the sub, add the fans like you thought; or switch to a more efficient amp.
