Opinions on Jensen indash dvd...

Anyone have this unit:

Seems like a great deal here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ayphotohosting

I want an in-dash DVD player with tv tuner but I also want it to play radio.

The listing doesn't mentin FM (that I see) but the picture shows it.

Anyone know if this is a decent (I say decent, I know Jensen is usually crap) head unit?

It's EXACTLY what I want to spend (nothing too far over $500, anything over that is better spent on other things).

Is it a good buy? Is there another unit I should be looking at?

Thanks!

Cool Re: Opinions on Jensen indash dvd...

We Carry A Model Fairly Similar To This At Best Buy... Their Really Not That Bad. Jensen Isn't An Alpine Quality, But Their Decent. You Should Get Several Years Out Of It, Unless You Show It Off And Wear Out The Motor Opening And Closing The Screen. It Will Play DVD And A FM Tuner... It Also Has Preouts For A Playstation Or Whatever. I'd Say Go For It Man, Awesome Price.

Why pay 499$ for a questionable brand, when 699-799$ will get you a much better sounding, and much more reliable unit?

With the Jensen, you can really tell where they cut corners to make it so cheap.

Im a mobile installer at best buy, and ive seen a few of the jensens come back with motorizing problems
I would not buy the jensen when you can pay justa few hundred more and get a much better qaulity indash unit and be much happier.

What about the simuler priced Sanyo? I'm on the same boat and for the price the Jenson and Sanyo have my eye. If you get it let me know how you like it.

Re: Opinions on Jensen indash dvd...

Let just tell you guys, that you're looking at two very poorly built DVD players.

Average repair cost on a DVD player transport is 5-600$. Now, will you take a risk with a poorly built unit that it may end up costing you 5-600$ to fix? Or does it make a whole lot more sense to get a much more reliable unit for a little bit more money now, that won't cause headaches later?

Re: Opinions on Jensen indash dvd...

Go to bestbuy or circuit city and look at them all. I went there buying a pioneer dvd and left with the jensen. The screen quality on the jensen was the best out of the bunch IMO and this suprised me because it was a bit cheaper. The sound output is weak though so you will need speakers and amp to make it sound good. Also the **** feel a little flimsy if you are heavy handed, but you won't need to worry about them with the remotes. It was definetly worth the mone to me and I say go for it. If you are worried about the quality, get the extended service plan when you buy it.

Re: Opinions on Jensen indash dvd...

I really wanted this deck but for all the wrong reasons. For what I spend on it I can do a decent deck and speakers all the way around and mabey a amp for a little more.

That's what I was thinking too. But after I did it, I'm so glad that I did. I got the Jensen deck amp and speakers all the way around for what I would have paid for one of the more expensive DVD decks.

I'd much rather have a gently used Alpine then a brand new Jensen, look on ebay, for another 100 or so, I'm sure you can find one.

Steaming pile of crap > Jensen

That generalization will typically guide you well in life.
