Re: Opinions on the following speakers...
In my experience the Infinity speakers are pretty weak when it comes to reproducing loud midbass. Kenwood makes some pretty decent HU's and amps but their speakers leave a lot to be desired IMO. The same goes for the RF's too. The Polks or Alpines would probably be your best bet.
Re: Opinions on the following speakers...
i had a set of infinity kappas and loved them, but the mid bass is lacking, with a sub i didnt find it a problem, amazing highs for the price IMHO
now im running a set of PPI componamnts which rape the infinitys, but i cant complain about them for the price new sets can be had pretty inexpensivly on ebay

I've got a set of the JL Audio's and love them. But I find the same problem as with the Infinity Kappa's, not enough midbass. I added a set of 6.5" woofers in the side pillars to fill the gap between the sub and the JLs and it sounds awesome. Depending on what else you are doing, out of the original set I would go with the Kappas.
For the price range and what you are looking for, take a look at the Diamond Audio components as well. I think all 3 (JL, Kappa and DA) are all very close. Just got a better deal on the JLs.

Your best bet is going to be to pick out some CD's you like to listen too and go and demo the speakers yourself. Try to listen to the speakers off axis (meaning not looking directly at them but off to the side like you would have them installed in your car compared to you) and pick out the ones you like the sound of best.
