Opinion on the better subwoofer...

Im looking to upgrade my 2 10" powerbass subs, powered by an 800watt amp, to 2 12" subs with 1000watt amp

Ive been looking around and narrowed it down to 4...

Alpine Type-R (model:SWR-1242D)
Infinity (model:REF1252W)
Rockford Fosgate P2 (model:P212D4)
Rockford Fosgate P3 (model:P312D4)

any suggestions?

Two type R powered by alpine 1000.
Two Kicker CVR powered by Kicker ZX1000.
Both should sound great. Might save a few bucks with Kicker.

for ported you would have to build it. If built right you shouldn't blow anything.

From these: type-R's, But I would go with JL 12W6v2's, they are much better sounding subs IMHO. I recently got a set of 2 pretty inexpensive on ebay.

what type of amp are you running. You don't want to underpower a good sub. In my 2002 Z28 I have a old school mtx amp running about 500 watts rms and powering 2 10inch Memphis Audio 10's..With just the 500 true watts it is about peak what my alternator will keep up with at lower rpms. Is fine driving, but the lights dim at stop lights.

Go with the type-r's. I run two type r 12's in my camaro in a sealed box with only 408 watts between the two, and it gets loud and sounds good.

I also agree that the w6v2 is a great sounding sub, but there is no chance you will find two of those cheaper than the R's.

some kikker solo barics L7 will do the job and you could settle for some 10 inch woofers

From what I've seen (as far as data, etc)....there are far better options than the type-r depending on the application....

Dayton RSS265HF-4, ED 11Kv.2: 64.63, ED 11Ov.2, IDQ10D4v2, JL 10w3v3, XXLS are a few.
