Question Opinion on Audiovox?

I know people that own DEI based alarms but I do not know anyone that has an Audiovox alarm so I was wondering does anyone have any info on this brand. To be more percise too, I'm looking at the APS996 model

Thanks for the help,

Chris

I personally wouldn't buy anything made by audiovox, I think they make cheap stuff.

The thing is $220 and currently un-available. Id pass if it was available and half the price. My mother had a Prestige system installer in her Grand Am before I became an installer. Complete crap. I recently replaced it with an Avital 3300. Excellent unit for the price.

Ive seen the Viper alarms with the 2 way remote on ebay for $150-170, you would be MUCH better off with a DEI product.

I know some of those others look like good deals, but do your self a favor and keep it DEI. The only alarm system I will ever own.

Buy a DEI theres a reason they are the leader in the market for alarms. Audiovox makes fairly good backseat entertainment packages but everything else they make is of lower quality than most. Also if you have a DEI alarm purchased and installed by a DEI dealer it has a lifetime warranty for the install and the equipment. Which means if anything ever goes wrong they fix it for free. Also if you get a DEI alarm opt for the back up battery it helps if you ever have your battery changed or alternator changed and you wont have to go back to the shop to have your alarm reprogrammed. Plus if the battery in your car ever gets disconneted by a theif the alarm will still go off.

I'm not a big fan of Audiovox alarms but, its my experience that the installer makes more difference than the alarm. I occasionally have customers that bring them into my store to be installed. The work as good as any. They have excellent customer support which is more than I could say about DEI. Unless you are a dealer its like pulling teeth to get info from DEI. If you haven't purchased the alarm yet consider some other brands like Clifford/DEI, CodeAlarm, Excalibur just make sure you find a good installer.
