Newb needs help wiring his amp.

This will be my first amp install. I'm installing a JL Audio Slash 300 watt by 4 way amp.

I am going to install it where the existing Monsoon amp is. I think it will fit there. When I run the power wire, I simply attach it to the positive terminal on the battery, right? Now where do I run the wire through the firewall at? Also, where is a good place to ground the amp?

It's not that hard to do so here ya go...

1) run power wire from your battery through the firewall, there is a rubber grommet under your pcm (pass side, it's a small gray box). after you remove a few screws you should be able to see the grommet. Then run the wire under your door sills, rear panels to your amp.***Dont forget to run an in-line fuse holder 6" from your battery.

2) Run your remote wire (blue) from your amp to your radio fuse in the fuse box. This will turn the amp on when you turn on the radio.

3) You can ground the amp to any "all-metal" spot in the rear. I grounded mine to the bolt that holds the hatch supports. I cant remember what size it is but it's big as hell.

Thats just a short run down, but your should be fine in about an hour since your new to this.

One important thing to remeber is that you want bare metal when you make the conection for the amps ground wire. Take some sandpaper and make it nice and shiny before you attach the wire loop to it. If you don't have a good ground you will get a bunch of feedback throught the amp "Road Noise". Also you don't have to limit yourself to an exsisting bolt. Just use a selftapping screw and place it in an area that fits best for you setup. Just make sure that the position that you screw in the screw to is clear from anything that can be dangerous (gas tank). Also if you have an aftermarket cd player there is a wire on the back labeled REM. This is where you can attach your turn on wire to so that it will come on and off with the radio.
