new stereo setup

I'm looking into getting a new stereo for my A4 and I just want to run it by some of you audio guru's to see if everything will work out ok
Headunit: Blaupunkt San Jose
Front: Focal 130K
Rear: eitherFocal 165 CA or Alpine SPR-136A
Both focals are 60W and the Alpines are 40W if I get a 4 channel amp thats 60W will I be able to lower the power running to the rear speakers??
Sub:Adire Audio Shiva
Amp for Sub: JBL BP1200.1
I also can understand any of the stuff on Adire's site...is it a SVC or DVC and what ohms would I be running it at??
Thanks so much

Looks good!

Except for a few things...

Those Focal 130Ks are 5 1/8. You can fit a 6 1/2 inch driver in the front. If you want to stick with the Focal's, go with the 165 up front.

I would personally prefer a different head unit. I would use a Alpine, Nakamichi, or Eclipse.

For the rear fill speakers, many people will tell you that you don't need them. However, I have a set of JBL coaxials in the rear of my car and I am very happy with them. You don't need something that is going to get really load in the back of the car, just something that is not going to distort. I would reccomend that you look at the JBL's, as they will save you some cash.

As for the Shiva, it is a DVC sub and each voice coil is 8 ohms.

You can wire it in parallel for an effective 4 ohm load or series for an effective 16 ohm load. You could also wire a single voice coil up for and 8 ohm load.
With that JBL amp you would want to wire it in series for a 4 ohm load.

Later,
Matt

I promise I won't edit this post anymore...

hehe they're for my Audi A4 thats why I'm not going bigger. I heard that wiring subs in parallel is a much better way to go. I'm curious though, can u lower the output power of an amp?? if you can it would be nice to get only 2 amps instead of 3.

Sound quality is the main reason. Sure, the Balupunkt is a good product as far as reliability but you will get a better sound from other units.

Like this.
Except for with the Shiva it would read "8ohm DVC speaker = 4 ohm load"

what the...if i'm correct that jbl amp puts max power at 1-2ohms. Buy a different amp. I've heard a Shiva in a 3.0 cuft sealed box off 400watts rms and it sounded AWESOME. Look for a 4 ohm Mono Amp.

well im not sure if I'm getting this, I can't remember physics from last year but the specs on the amp are

Output 4 Ohms: 600W x 1

So if its a 8ohm DVC, effectively 4ohm, then that amp would work right?? or am I missing something...sorry if I'm a little slow

or would I be better off with something liek this

Rockford Fosgate Punch 601S

that amp puts out 600 at 4 ohm, the Shiva is rated at 650. Admittedly 650 might be pushing it, but i don't see why that amp shouldn't work great.

Sorry for not being clear on my suggestion. Yes, you guys are correct about the JBL working perfectly fine with the Infinity sub. I was just trying to point out that there are most likely cheaper amps out there that would put out the power necessary to run this setup. (i.e. My Orion amp puts out 1000rms at 1 ohm, and 200rms at 4 ohms; therefore it would be WAY cheaper for me to buy a 200rms 4ohm amp instead of having the Orion's power go unused) Hope this helps

the pMAX is 650 so I'm guessing the rms is a little lower any idea on what the rms of that jbl amp is??
if you have any other recommendations on another amp please say so cuz I'm having a hard time finding a cheaper one

the RMS on the JBL 1200.1 is 600 at 4 ohm and 1200 at 2 or 1 ohm....
That P Max onthe shiva is its thermal power rating and it will take that power, but in order to not exceed the mechanical limitations with that power you will need a 1 cube or less box. The shiva sounds nice in that small of a box, but it really shines in a little larger box, in which case you need to really conservatively set the gains.

Well what setup would you suggest?? Its not like I already have that amp. I figured that I would come here and ask some of you audio gurus about my setup so it can be revised by you guys. What kind of amp would you get, what size box, how would you set it all up with sound quality as your main concern
