I want to put my sony mex-1hd into my 01 z28. My car orrigionally has the monsoon sound system. I removed the factory hu and there is two wire harnesses (I'm sure all of you knew that but I didn't) I have a gm wire adapter from best buy and it fits the one but what do I do with the other wire harness for the stock hu? I've used the search but didn't come up with anything. I'm probably wording it wrong. Also where is the stock amp located in the car?

 

the amp is located on the right side of the car in the back where the spare is....take the panel off and it should be mounted right on top of the wheelwell. dunno bout your other question...hope this helps

 

It could be a connection for steering wheel controls or optional factory cd changer.

 

Well everything works fine without that second harness connected to anything. I thought it might be for the steering wheel controls. Thanks for the replies.
