new amps?????

ok I used to have an eclipse headunit, subs and 4ch amp......
and 2 Kenwood 2 channels running my subs......
Mb's in the rear, Alpines in the front

i replaced the head unit to Alpine
Blew a sub so I bought a 10" Rockford HX2
Fried the eclipse amp.......I dont have a box for the sub yet so im using my 2 kenwoods to run the front and rear speakers......I wanna get all new amps but I want them to match cause this is the finishing of my system im going to buy an amprack from subthump mount the new amps and be DONE with it....

i was pricing new rockford amps on ebay figure ill have em match with sub as well......but i want the best sound cause after i get these amps i want to be done with the system....except maybe MB's in the front cause i love my rears and dont really like the alpine fronts

I know the alpines are like 40rms and 160 peak
I forget what the rear mbs are prolly like 300w peak
and HX2 is 1000w rms 2000w peak

so leave good quality ideas but not to high prices its looking like if i go rockford i can get a decent deal for $500 for both amps...

$500 for a 4-channel amp and a monoblock amp to drive the sub.....hmmmm....let's see..... For that price range I say Kicker. Go with the Kx800.4 for your four 6 1/2"s that will give them 100WRMS each! Next, the Kx600.1 for the sub. Provided you can run your sub @ 2ohms, it will give you 600WRMS. That's about the best you're gonna do for $500. Great deal.

thats the thing I cant run the sub at 2 ohms...its a dual 2 ohm voice coil sub and im only running one of them. so i was looking for an amp to run like 6-800w rms at 4ohms

Or get a 1 ohm stable amp.... cheap one ohm stable amps....hmmm..... Kicker KX1200.1 or JBL 1200.1 . The only problem with the JBL is that you said you want matching amps. And for that line the only 4-channel they make does like 40WRMS@4ohms. Still much better then a head unit.....but damn the kx800.4 would be sweet!

Actually........ you know what dude........ I'll PM you.

The only difference you are going to see is more power from the amp. If this extra power will cause your woofer to over extend itself.... then yes, it will damage the sub. Exercise proper gain setting. Other then the increase in power, there is no difference. The power is no "dirtier" or ANY different for that matter, then at 4 ohms. If you decrease resistence, current increases. Current x voltage = Power. That's part of Ohms law. Simple as that.

ahh so how do i get a 1 ohm power rating for an amp??? just multiply the 2ohm power rating by 2???? cause alot of amps dont list the 1 ohm powerrating cause i seen in ur pm the 1000bd from rockford puts out 1000 watts at 2ohms.....i only need a 1000 watts so if i ran that at 1ohm id blow the sub

Ahhh, good question. By definition if resistance is cut in half, current doubles. So yes, the amp should put out double the power @1 ohm. However, many amps are just STABLE to 1 ohm. Meaning they will play fine but will not output any more power. That is the case with the bd1000 and the JBL BP1200.1.

thats perfect cause i was looking at the bd1000 so you are sure that at 1ohm that will only output 1000watts and not turn itself off????

100% I speak from personal experience. Remember now, I have the older style bd1000a1. I think they have changed a little since. This is the amp I have. Not this one.
