Need wiring help for 2 amps
Need wiring help for 2 amps
I'm going to be running 4 Infinity tweeters(6"9", 63/4") 2 pioneer 800rms subs(10") and I bought 2 amps. An infinity 1200w for the tweeters and a lanzar 4000watt amp to the subs. What will I need to wire all of this ?
It's going in a 2000 Honda Accord 2 door so I don't want to buy one of the kits with 20ft of wire, etc. I know I'll mount the 1200w tweeter amp under the passenger seat and the sub amp in the back so here's my question....
I'm assuming I'll need to run a 0 gauge wire to the sub amp and then a smaller gauge (4?) to the 1200w tweeter amp under the seat. I'm new at this but I understand you use a distribution block for this case ? What I'm thinking is run the 0 gauge to the trunk/sub amp then run a 4 gauge wire through a distribution block back into the cabin under the seat. Just curious what all I will need so I can peice together a good wiring kit. I also understand grounding 2 amps that are more than 3 feet apart can be an issue as you will need to have both grounded.
I'm also concearned about noise into the wires/disturbance. I know your supposed to run the power/RCA hookups on opposite sides of the car to reduce this but I guess when I run the 2nd power wire to the sub under the seat I'll need to rought it more toward the center of the car then have it snake around the console to the pass seat.

if thats where you want the amps, just run 2 power leads from the battery. Dont use a distribution block. There is no sense in backtracking with the wire to feed the 4 channel. And run down the sides of the car with everything, not the middle.
Run the RCA for the sub amp down the drivers side and run the RCA for the tweeters under the carpet to the pass seat. Don't run the RCAs with the power wire or you will get interference. Run the 0 gauge to the rear going through the dist block and mount it under the pass seat with the 4g wire running to the amp for the tweeters. Make sure the grounds are good and grounded to BARE METAL. Use a wire brush to get any paint, dirt, or other crap off where you will ground it.
i would assume that he is talking about 1200 and 4000w MAX power. Considering that the sub amp is a Lanzar it will only be putting out 1000w rms if that. Now since the infinity is a higher quality it could be putting out as much as 500-600w rms.

I'll be running 2 of these and hopefully the Amp can push 800RMS to each and sound descent. If you recommend something else please do tell. I wanted 1 amp to put out 1600RMS and as far as the tweeters I'm going to hold off on the amp and just let the Head Unit power them. I WILL upgrade but I'm hoping I can find a powerfull head unit until I have time to wire up an amp to them.

look at brands like memphis, pioneer, alpine, rockford, mtx, kicker, and kenwood just to name a few. stay away from things like legacy, lanzar, and those cheap brands you may find on ebay for low prices. basicaly you get what you pay for, if an amp says its putting out 1000w or 2000w and it only costs $100, its not gonna put out 1000 or 2000w's. you should look for a 1000W RMS amp to push those subs and if you want that kind of power expect to pay at least $300 for it.
