Need suggestions badly
I' getting my income taxes back and am going to replace my BOSE cassete system. I will have about $600-$800 to spend on it. I don't necessarily have to spen all of it, I'm a college kid with no money, but it's going out and needs to be replaced. I need some suggestions on what to buy. I'm not really concerned about somebody in the next county hearing my Bocephus, I just want something that sounds good. I also don't like the adapters. I want a deck that fills up the entire 1.5 din hole. I know very little about this stuff so any help will be greatly appreciated.
I would strongly suggest reconsidering the 1.5 din move. You can get a 1din unit for the same price with many more features.
If you must have the 1.5 din, then this Pioneer would have to be your choice.
If you can deal with the single din I suggest the Alpine 7892. As you can see, it has FAR more features then the Pioneer. That goes for any 1.5din's in the same price range. (and most 1din's for that matter!) And they are both realitively the same price.
So that leaves $400-$600. Check out www.cbrstereo.com . Look under Kicker, MTX and Focal. Those all have component sets for around and under $150. Ya gotta figure a good set of plain ol' co-axils would be about $100, mise well spend the extra 20 bucks and get your moneys worth.....
Now we're down to $250-$450. Do you have t-tops? Are you willing to lose your storage area in the rear to put in a subwoofer? Check out www.subthump.com Look under the camaro/firebird boxes. Check out the stealth box. You could get one of those, add a single 10" woofer and still keep your t-top/storage area. Or to save some money, build a small box yourself to fit in the storage area. For the actual sub I recommend a JL 10W0 or 10W3, Alpine Type-R or Type-S, or an Elemental Designs K10. All are cheap and great subwoofers.
Now we are just about out of money...... and we still need an amp.... and wires for that matter......
Maybe you could pick up some deals on used gear??
